今天在2008北美TechED开发者大会上，通过全球Webcast，Microsoft公司宣告Windows Embedded Standard 2009 Community Technology Preview (CTP).发布可用。除此外，还规定将在2008的第四个季度提供给消费者使用。Windows Embedded Standard 2009是为OEMs设计用来快速将小设备与企业级架构相连。

Windows XP Embedded下一代产品，Windows Embedded Standard 2009允许设备很容易连接到基于Vista系统的pc,并且带有Windows Server 2008高级特性。

新的技术特性包括Microsoft Silverlight, Remote Desktop Protocol，Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5，Windows Embedded Standard 2009 还设计有驱动管理和安全的瘦客户端，还有更为出色的是提供服务和
良好的用户体验，并且智能网络多功能打印器（smart networked multifunction printers），它也能很容易管理和连接到企业级的架构中。Windows Embedded Standard 2009还包括为Inter公司最新的x86 processor
architectures 提供的驱动组件支持。为使用者提供灵活的使用最新硬件设备。
